Does anyone have any fishing experience on the St. George River (MAG Map 14 B,C-2) in the Appleton/Union area?
I had a friend of a friend tell me that there is good brown trout fishing on this river. I also checked the fish stocking report on the MDIFW website and it shows a late October stocking of browns. I’m planning on fishing this river sometime in 2012. Looks like about an hour drive from Bangor to Appleton, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, heck maybe even an Events commitee nomination for a trip if it’s good fishing.

Regards, Wayne

Hello Gang,
I was able to make a trip to the St George River on Monday 4/16/12 with a couple of fellow PFF members Ernie & Scott and I am happy to report that the bite is on! The water is very low for this time of year as it is in most areas of the State but the fish are there. It looks like a great venue for our upcoming outing on May 6th. Several nice brookies in the 9 -11 inch range were taken and a couple of larger fish were lost.
Rule # 1 – The biggest one always gets away! I am happy to report to our Club Prez, Mike C. that I did indeed catch a nice brookie on a Hornberg! Ha Ha!
This nice Fishin Hole can can be found on MAG MAP 14, B2 Searsmont – Appleton area. The river is stocked annually with both brookies and browns. It is definitely a nice spot worth checking out for a day of fishing!
Tight Lines Fellas,
Wayne
